Shoot, Score and SERVE!

The JCAT mission involves promoting sportsmanship on and off the court and enforcing the importance of community service.  Here are the volunteer events that we are planning for the 2019 – 2020 basketball season:

  • 5th and 7th Grades – Joint practice with Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association (GLASA) youth wheelchair basketball team.  Saturday (TBD), Lake Forest College Rec Center.

  • 6th Grade – Room and bed set up for PADS (homeless shelter system for Lake County.)  Tuesday before practice (TBD), First Presbyterian Church in Libertyville.

  • 8th Grade – Food and turkey dinner distribution at Mobile Food Bank.  Saturday (TBD) in November at Foss Park of Waukegan.

In addition to activities, in the past few years we have also supported our community with collections.  Here are the donations we hope to assemble during the season:

  • Pop Tabs for Ronald McDonald House - Little things make a big difference. Support the Ronald McDonald Houses of Chicagoland & Northwest Indiana (RMHC-CNI) by donating the tabs you pull to open soda, soup and other aluminum cans. The funds generated from our Pop Tab Program help support programs.  Learn more here:                  https://youtu.be/B3OEWTAGVVE

  • Supplies for PADS – Hats, gloves, gently loved duffle bags and back packs

Finally, we will do some sort of fundraising effort to promote the organizations that we support.
